Daniel James: Music
Renew My Faith
(Daniel James)
November 1, 2005
Daniel James Martinusen
I woke up one morning, having dreamed I had written a song about faith. Inspired, I wrote this song before heading off to our church music practice. A young man named Josh who was part of the worship team arrived and before I had mentioned the song, told me he had dreamed I had written a song. These dreams were both on the same night. It had never happened that way before or since, though I alone have received other songs in the night through dreams.
Renew My Faith
(V1)
When Peter saw Jesus on the water
He wanted to go out to him
When Jesus called out to him, he stepped out of the boat
And began to walk to him
Then he looked down and was afraid
He lost his faith, and as he fell he cried, “Jesus save me.”
(Chorus)
Renew my faith, Lord in you
Give me strength to make it through
Keep my eyes fixed on you
Renew my faith, dear Lord in you, oh
Renew my faith, dear Lord in you
(V2)
When I first came to you, Jesus
I stepped out from the world
And I put my trust in you
Then when the troubles flooded in
They began to pull me down
I started to lose sight of you
I was afraid that I would fall
But Lord, you heard me when I called
(Repeat chorus)
